Organising a group meal in Marrakech

A birthday, a seminar, a wedding, a family reunion: once you pass a dozen guests, a meal stops being improvised. Here are the questions to settle, in order, and how we answer them at Kui-Zin.

Dishes from Kui-Zin's Moroccan buffet, ready for a group service

How many of you will there be?

This is the first question, and it decides everything else.

At Kui-Zin, catering starts from 10 people. Below that, the simplest option is to come and sit down at the restaurant: the Moroccan buffet is served at lunch and in the evening.

The next threshold is 30 people. It changes the nature of the service, as we'll see.

Delivery or service on site?

Up to 30 guests, we deliver. You receive the dishes ready to serve and handle the service yourself.

Above 30 guests, we can come and serve on site, and we provide the tableware and equipment. That's the option for weddings and seminars, where nobody wants to be counting plates.

We deliver anywhere in Marrakech, not just in the medina.

How much notice is needed?

At least 48 hours. That's the time it takes to shop fresh and cook without rushing.

But the lead time grows with the group. For ten people, two days is enough. For a hundred, tell us several weeks ahead — busy dates fill up quickly.

What does it cost?

Catering is priced by quote. Three things go into it: the number of guests, the dishes chosen and the venue.

A couscous for fifty delivered in the medina and a full buffet served at a villa outside town don't take the same work or the same logistics.

As a benchmark, the buffet at the restaurant is €18 at lunch and €20 in the evening.

What can be served?

The same food as the restaurant: Moroccan salads, tagines, couscous, homemade pastries. Vegetarian options are possible.

If you're unsure, the easiest thing is to come and taste the buffet before ordering. We then talk through what suits your event.

What if the group wants to cook?

That's another way of bringing people together around a table. The cooking workshop takes 2 to 30 people, in French, English or Italian.

Everyone gets their hands in the dough, then everyone eats what was made. It's 350 dhs per person, 250 dhs for children from age 7, and you book 48 hours ahead.
